Abstract

Kecemasan komunikasi atau communication apprehension merupakan hambatan psikologis yang sering dialami mahasiswa saat berbicara di depan umum, dan dapat mengganggu perkembangan akademik serta profesional, terutama pada mahasiswa psikologi yang dituntut memiliki keterampilan komunikasi tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas pelatihan public speaking dalam menurunkan tingkat kecemasan komunikasi. Metode yang digunakan adalah pra-eksperimen dengan desain one group pre-test post-test pada 18 mahasiswa psikologi yang dipilih secara purposive. Intervensi dilakukan melalui pelatihan intensif yang mencakup materi, praktik, serta pemberian reinforcement positif. Hasil analisis menggunakan paired sample t-test menunjukkan adanya penurunan skor kecemasan komunikasi secara signifikan (p = 0,006) setelah pelatihan. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa pelatihan public speaking efektif dalam mengurangi gejala kecemasan komunikasi. Penelitian ini memberikan implikasi praktis bagi lembaga pendidikan dalam merancang program pelatihan komunikasi berbasis bukti untuk mendukung pengembangan keterampilan interpersonal mahasiswa.
