Analisis Pengaruh Desain Video Berformat Pendek terhadap Attention Span

Fenomena video berformat pendek seperti TikTok, YouTube Shorts, dan Instagram Reels telah bertransformasi menjadi media hiburan dan informasi yang paling dominan di masyarakat modern karena desainnya yang sangat adaptif terhadap penggunaan gawai. Namun, dominasi masif ini mulai memicu kekhawatiran serius terkait perubahan pola hidup dan penurunan fungsi kognitif masyarakat, khususnya pada penurunan attention span atau kemampuan untuk mempertahankan fokus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis secara mendalam bagaimana elemen-elemen desain dalam video berformat pendek berdampak terhadap penurunan attention span sekaligus menyebabkan kecanduan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode campuran dengan kerangka KWHL (Know, Want, How, Learn), melalui observasi di masyarakat, observasi reflektif penulis, wawancara dengan ahli psikologi, studi literatur, serta penyebaran kuesioner kepada masyarakat. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa orientasi vertikal, durasi singkat di bawah satu menit, serta desain antarmuka (UI/UX) yang dioptimalkan untuk navigasi menggunakan jempol sangat efektif dalam mengikat perhatian pengguna. Stimulasi visual dan audio yang dirancang agresif dengan ritme cepat terbukti mampu memicu pelepasan dopamin secara instan yang mendorong perilaku adiktif. Data kuesioner mengonfirmasi bahwa 47,58% responden merasakan penurunan attention span meskipun merasa tingkat konsumsinya masih terkontrol. Observasi di masyarakat dan secara reflektif juga memperlihatkan perubahan perilaku serta kebiasaan, terutama dalam mempertahankan attention span pada aktivitas sehari-hari. Video berformat pendek sengaja dirancang secara adiktif demi meningkatkan keuntungan platform, namun pada akhirnya berdampak buruk terhadap pengendalian diri dan stabilitas emosional audiens. Penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya tanggung jawab desainer untuk menciptakan rancangan yang lebih berkelanjutan bagi masyarakat.
